How to prepare for your tattoo appointment

Hydrate

please read all of the following text

the day before and the day of your appointment please drink lots of water.

Your skin will be affected by what you consume 24-48 hours prior to your tattoo.

When you are hydrated, I'm able to fully saturate the ink with ease to give you my best line work. Your session will go by more quickly because I'll be able to get quality lines quickly and efficiently.

When you are dehydrated

your skin becomes tough, and unable to take the ink properly. When I tattoo dehydrated skin, the lines are patchy, uneven, and I often have to go over them multiple times.

This effects the way it heals and my ability to give you the best work I can. If your skin is dehydrated at the time of your appointment the line work will likely heal looking grey, patchy, and inconsistent.

Touch ups are free and I am able to go over the lines at a later time when you are properly prepared.

Avoid blood thinners

Please avoid blood thinners such as alcohol and Advil the day before and the day of your appointment.

By doing this, and drinking water, your skin will have minimal bleeding and inflammation during the time of your appointment

Eat a good meal

Prior to your appointment please be sure to eat a meal. It's not often, but there are times when clients have low blood sugar and feel nauseous, light headed, or faint within the first few minutes of tattooing. Don't worry, everyone in the shop is experienced and on the off chance this happens, you are safe and we can take care of you.

Avoid getting a sun burn in the area you're getting tattooed

I am unable to tattoo sun burnt skin, the skin is too inflamed and does not take the ink in that state. Please be sure to avoid this prior to your appointment.

Tattoo Aftercare

After getting tattooed, wash your tattoo lightly with an antibacterial soap. Pat it dry and do not re bandage (if your tattoo had a bandage on prior). You can do this once you get home, or back to where you're staying.

you can expect there to be some blood within the hour after getting tattooed, and some excess ink at the 12-hour mark post tattoo, please wash this off.

Please continue to wash your tattoo 1-2 times a day with an antibacterial soap.

Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight, it will feel like a sun burn.

Avoid public water, such as the ocean, pools, waterfalls for 7-10 days post tattoo. Showers are fine at any time.

After 2-3 days you can apply a light coat of white unscented lotion or Aquaphor 2-3 times a day. These products are water based and allow your tattoo to breathe.

Do not apply sunscreen to your new tattoo.

3-4 days after getting tattooed, your tattoo will begin to itch and peel. Do not pick at it, or scratch it. This can pull some of the ink out. Please allow your tattoo to go through this process on it's own.

After 7-10 days your tattoo will be finished peeling and fully healed.
